Goldman Sachs Acquires Industry Ventures to Expand Venture Capital Reach
Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. has entered into an agreement to acquire Industry Ventures, a prominent venture capital platform with $7 billion in assets under supervision. The acquisition aims to broaden client access to high-growth technology companies and strengthen Goldman Sachs' $540 billion alternatives business.
Industry Ventures, founded in 2000, has made over 1,000 secondary and primary investments, delivering a net IRR of 18% and a net realized MOIC of 2.2X since inception. The firm specializes in venture secondary investing and early-stage hybrid funds—areas experiencing rapid growth as companies remain private longer and investors seek liquidity alternatives.
"Industry Ventures’ expertise complements our existing franchises and unlocks global opportunities for clients," said Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon. The venture capital market stands at an inflection point, with AI and technology reshaping industries.
